It seems like just yesterday that I transformed the corridor in our basement into a funny and happy hallway, you can see the entire post here, but here are two pictures of it before I decided to give it a new make-over.
After three years, I was ready for a more subdued mood in this part of the house. However it was essential to avoid going back to a boring and sad look. I was very keen to "break" the wall in an attempt to shorten the tunnel feeling that corridors can give. So I decided to try the wallpapered panel decor that I had been eyeing for the last few months.
I was procrastinating ripping off the old wallpaper but it went surprisingly well! I bought simple trim to create a frame for each panel, I then painted them and the walls around. I decided to save time and money by leaving the inside of the frames unpainted as I would wallpaper them anyhow. So far, so good.
I bought two rolls of a beautiful and good quality wallpaper in France. It has some sparkles that unfortunately does not show on the pictures. For the installation, it was recommended that I apply the glue directly on the walls, which is much easier than applying the glue on the paper! Installing this wallpaper was an easier experience than the two last ones I had!
We bought new lighting which is discreet and bright to finish off the space.

Going for wallpapered panels instead of wallpapering the entire corridor was a genius idea, (if I may say so): the work was easier and faster. The corridor has a neutral, calm and still interesting look and best of all it looks brighter and more airy than it ever did!
